Accused Young Dolph killers appear in court for status hearing
The two men accused of killing Memphis rapper Young Dolph were once again in court on Friday for a status hearing,
According to defense attorneys for both Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith they have been reviewing over 800 hundred pieces of evidence turned over by the prosecution in the case.
Smith will have a bond hearing on July 18th when we may finally learn some of the evidence in the case. Johnson however has not requested bond, as he is serving a prison sentence for violating his supervised release dealing with a previous weapons charges.
Johnson and Smith are both charged with first degree murder for Young Dolph’s death.
Young Dolph, whose real named was Adolph Thornton, Jr., was gunned down in November 2021 outside Makeda’s Cookies, a South Memphis bakery on Airways Boulevard.
